Request a basement inspection
If water is coming in right now, call. For a crack you've been watching, an aging sump pump or a basement that just won't stay dry, send a request and a local company will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the request reaches a company that works in your town
- Where the water shows up: floor edge, a crack, a window well, or just dampness
- Whether it happens during storms, days later, or mostly in spring
- Your foundation type if you know it: poured, block, brick or stone
- Whether you have a sump pump and where it discharges
Water near outlets, the furnace or the water heater? Don't wade into standing water if anything electrical might be wet. Shut off basement power at the panel only if you can reach it from a dry spot.
